Invest in Kids Joins Dads Today
at Dads Count Conference in Toronto
Fathers Really Do Make A Difference

(Toronto, ON – May 19th, 2009) On Saturday June 6th Invest in Kids, a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents become the parents they dream of being, will take part in the 2nd annual Dads Count Conference being presented by Dads Today (www.dadstoday.org). This one day conference runs from 10am-3:00pm at the Ken Cox Community Centre (28 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, inside Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School).

The conference brings together fathers of all ages to discuss, teach and learn the latest techniques when it comes to connecting with their family. Invest in Kids’ Karon Foster, Director of The Parenting Partnership program, will present a seminar specially designed for fathers called You and Your Child’s Temperament. The seminar helps dads learn about their child’s temperament and gives them strategies to use with children of different temperaments than themselves.

“Fathers have such an important role in the lives of their children, especially during the early years,” says Foster. “Invest in Kids has created programs and resources to help dads better understand their child and how the simple, everyday moments that they share can help support their child’s social, emotional and intellectual development. We are thrilled to be taking part in the Dads Count Conference to share this with involved fathers in the GTA.”

"We believe deeply in the value of a father in his child's life,” says event organizer Brian Russell. “Dads Count ‘09 gives dads a chance to connect and learn some great information. We hope men leave inspired in their role as dads and with a clearer focus on the significance of their relationship with their child."
