Tony Chestnut

Age Range: 2 1/2 - 5 years

Children love to sing songs and do the actions that go with the words! Tony Chestnut will have children moving and laughing as they try to keep up with the rhyme. For children aged 2 ½ to 5.

You will need:
  • You will need the following song: Tony Chestnut knows I love you, Tony knows, Tony knows! Tony Chestnut knows I love you, That’s what Tony knows!

Instructions:
What to do: Every time you say Tony’s name, touch your toes and knees. On the word “chest”, touch your chest, on the word “nut”, touch your head, and on the word “knows”, touch your nose! When you say, “I love you”, point to your eyes, then cross your arms over your heart and point to a friend. On the last line, clap twice for the words “that’s what” and then end the rhyme by touching your toes, knees and nose.

Enjoy this more with Comfort, Play & Teach™:

Comfort: Reciting a rhyme about love encourages children to show affection to people who are important to them and to use gentle and loving words.

Play: With each repetition of the rhyme, say or sing the words a little bit faster. Children will laugh when some of the words and actions become confused and people touching their toes when they should be touching their nose!

Teach: By saying this rhyme and doing the actions, children will practice using words to name different parts of their body, and also discover that words can sound the same but mean different things!
