Funny Little Snowman

Reciting the words to this wintery action rhyme will build your child's love of language as you share some Comfort, Play & Teach time together! You will need the following rhyme:

A funny little snowman
He had a carrot nose
Along came a bunny
And what do you suppose?
That funny little rabbit
Was looking for some lunch
He ate the snowman's carrot nose....
Nibble, nibble....CRUNCH!

Instructions:
  • Hold up one fist to represent the snowman. Bend the index and middle fingers of your other hand to represent the rabbit.
  • As you say the words, make up actions to accompany them (e.g., a rabbit hopping). On the last line, pretend to nibble your child's carrot nose!
  • If you have finger puppets, these can be used to bring the rhyme to life. Older children can create their own simple finger or popsicle stick puppets too!

Play:Role-playing the rhyme using gestures and actions encourages your child to use his imagination and it will help him to remember the words!

Teach:Sharing simple poems with your child helps her to listen to and use language and to notice words that rhyme.
