Growth Chart

Making a growth chart is a fun way for your child to notice special things about her own body. This simple Comfort, Play & Teach™ activity will give your child practice with measuring, counting and observing.

You will need:
  • A long piece of paper
  • A measuring tape
  • A permanent marker

  • Tape the paper to a wall making sure the bottom of the paper is touching the ground.
  • Ask your child to stand with his back against the paper. Make a marking at the top of the head, to indicate his height. Remember to print the date the measurement was taken.
  • Over time, measure your child again, noting changes and adding the date. Your child will enjoy observing how his body has changed over time.

Enjoy this more with Comfort, Play & Teach™:

Comfort:Children are very interested in learning about themselves. Measuring your child is a way to provide special attention and build his esteem about his growth.

Play:Size differences can be noticed when your child plays with toys such as blocks and dolls or uses different sized measuring tools when playing with sand or water.

Teach:Encouraging your child to handle and measure the things she plays with will help her to develop skills like observing and comparing.
